Hello all, today while hunting a church from the late 1800's i found these 2 objects nearby eachother. the ball is 1.5 lbs and is approx. 7" diameter with ruler. using BH Legacy 3500 came up High iron 09,08. its almost perfectly round besides the little slit looking thing on the 5th picture. the other object was bouncing around from irons to in the 90's very inconsistent reading on it. it is 5 1/4" long and the "handle" area or circular part is rounded and the opposite end thins out as it goes to the tip. it almost has a diamond shape to it with one end inbedded inside the circle. I found both of these in a churches yard near Downtown St. Paul. Im totally clueless on what these objects could be, maybe somebody has found something similar to these items in the past and has an idea. I appreciate your time and any info on these would be very helpful as I may donate them to the church if has any historical significance. Also wondering a ballpark on the ages? Thanks again!!

The round thing with the blade is an old drive-in log dog.

That is very cool! Interesting piece here. The ball on the left, could it be a cannonball? I can't figure out what else it may be I have been researching but can't come up with anything.

CrownVic26, cannonballs are my specialty-area in relic collecting and study. No actual cannonballs had lumps, bumps, flat-spots, or belts on them. One of your photos of the iron ball seems to show a sort of ridge on just one spot on its body. That indicates it is not a cannonball. But, to be absolutely sure about it, we need more information, such as its PRECISELY-MEASURED diameter and weight. Please provide that information, if you care enough to pursue the matter further. Instructions for super-precise measuring of a ball's weight and diameter are here:

The diameter is approximately 2.28 inches. I am basing that on your 7" measurement. You are actually measuring the circumference. But as cannonballguy said, you'll need precise dimensions and weight to determine whether it's a cannonball.
