help ID this old medallion

My friend found this in his field. It's 1 1/2" wide and 1 3/4" tall. It says" DEDICATION
GEO. B. McCLELLAND. Then theres a image of a man on a horse, and under that it says"
OCT. 24TH 1894
PHILADELPHIA PA." It has a small loop on top for a chain. It looks like it could be copper or brass. Thank you for your help.

McClelland was a Union genereal in the civil war. A commemerative token for sure, but I know not from whence it came.McClelland died in 1885 I think? Monty

Despite the spelling (or rather, misspelling) on it, I believe that this is suspension medallion, or "drop," from a souvenir badge issued for the dedication of an equestrian statue of Gen. George B. McClellan, which was erected on the city hall plaza in Philadelphia, PA in 1894. The sculptor was Henry Jackson Ellicott, who created a number of major sculptures of military figures in the late 19th century, and was chief modeler and sculptor for the U.S. government during President Benajmin Harrison’s term.

The Civil War piqued my interest last year and I have been and still am reading a series of books on the Civil War. The name McClelland and McClellan are spelled both ways at times and I have seen footnotes remarking about the correct spelling which is minus the "d" on the end. Thanks for bringing that up PBK. Monty
