I dug this bullet in a field that has had numerous activity over the years. Never seen a one ringed bullet before? :icon_scratch: It has the patina and appears to be a smaller caliber. The closest thing I could think of might be an older Colt Revolver?

Clues are: .32 or 7.95mm caliber. Single groove (swaged - with chennelure). Very round, so not .32-20 (flat at tip for leveractions) or .32 Colt/.32 S&W (shoulder in the profile of the bullet). Shape would work best in a semi-auto.

My guess would be from a .32 ACP of 1930's vintage. But that's just a guess.

Being a "reeded one ring" bullet it's definitely post Civil War, I noticed your calipers only measure to the 100th's so your bullet could be a .30 caliber which would read as .308 or a .32 caliber, which would read as .3125, without seeing that 1000th's measurement it's hard to say, not sure if your calipers are rounding up or down, my guess is your bullet is .32 caliber, a somewhat common caliber, handgun and rifle, back in the late 1880's - 1920's.

~ I just noticed Charlie's post, I like his guess better than mine.

Could be a 32-20, not all were or are flat tipped. I have Marlin and Remington pump action rifles in 32-20 and the modern ammo I have for them does not have flat tips. I don't think 32-20 pistol ammo had flat tips either.
