Is it plain quartz and does something like this hold any value?

welcome to the forum . The rock is just quartz , looks like smokey quartz , no real value but if you like it thats something. Look into if there is any pegmatite formations in the area you found it there could be quartz crystals in the area and those are always fun and worth something if they are nice ones.
