Welcome to T Net and thanks for posting.
Pegmatite often contains feldspar, mica, various minerals and quartz.
It can also have gemstones in it.
Kind of a “grab bag” to investigate.
I don’t know if it is common in NJ, but a quick search will tell.👍🏼

Pegmatite is made up of the last set of crystals to form after a volcanic eruption cools. Slow cooling forms larger crystals. This is pegmatite from the glacial till in IL. I ground it to a rough ball shape and polished it. It has two purple crystals on one side, one darker than the other. No idea what they are. The crystal on the other side is a rectangular black tourmaline crystal. This is the only pegmatite I’ve found. I’ll definitely be looking for more. Like Blackfoot says, it can possibly contain valuable gemstones.
