Re-post, no one can give me a clue on this coin??

I think my post for "what is it" is the only one with "0" replies. Someone has to have a clue.. Rich.

I did look for ancient flower coins but couldn't find any match. The coins that came the closest were IMO Celtic coins.

Can't quite determine whether both sides depicts flowers :icon_scratch:

To me (and my wife) it looks like a bird catching a fish.

To me the frist side looks like an 8 spoked wheel, which has religious significance in Buddism, representing the Wheel of Life. I know it was used on some ancient coins, I believe in the Bactrian period? Anyway, from the designs, I'd say explore early copper from India and that area.

rich, I think fast dave is on the right track suggesting a Buddist motif. You might want to google 'Dharma" rather than wheel of life to get some more links. To confuse things a little more, it seems the eight spoked wheel was used as far back as 103 BC by the Hebrew king Alexander, and it's believed that design may have influenced the Buddist design.
