Help IDing Magnifying glass

does anyone know what this magnifying glass is or appx age. The lens is about the size of a nickle and it slips into the other piece , it has a hole through the top stem and is made of brass but looks like lead or pewter in the hole in the stem , is it part of a larger instrument? Any Help appreciated . Thanks

I still use a similar one when I am out hunting. I found it in a box of junk put out on the curb over a decade ago.
