I am soon to be in the market for a new land machine... I have been using an old 5500 d I have had for 20 years. I will be using it for dry sanding the beach as well as inland. I have been a fan of Whites products so I will probably stay with them... I know I dont want to spend the bucks for the spectra, but thinking of the xlt, mxt or dfx. I don't hunt relics just coins and bling. I like the depth meter on my 5500 so I know how deep the target is, just not sure how accurate the ID would be on these machines. So that said what would be the best bang for the buck for what I described... :icon_scratch:

Since you only wanna stick with Whites, either the MXT or DFX would be very nice. I have used both an own the DFX but never used it on the beach since for that I like the Sov GT. as it is deeper than the Whites but has no meter. Since it ignores iron I dig everything else. But inland I like the Tesoro Tejon and the DFX depending if I can hold up the heavier DFX.

Coins and bling can be found a little cheaper with the M6. Perfect for the job with change already in your pocket! :icon_thumright:

The first thing I thought was M6, I agree with John. It has great depth and scrim and it's not too heavy. Rely on the volume (loudness) of the signal to determine depth, more accurate than a meter IMO.
