Help needed in ID'ing a lock

Dug this in a farm field . . . any help in dating it would be appreciated. thanks.

Based on top shape I would guess 1850s?? Keep researching you find it.. nice!!

I think it probably 1900's or maybe very late 1800's. As far as I know all the 1800's locks had the keyhole in the side.
