I dug this silver coin about a month ago in a construction site where numerous civil war and revolutionary war items were found and also a primitive foundation was uncovered by archaelogist in Frederick County, VA.
Unfortunately it is very oxidized and several efforts to clean for identification purposes have not helped. The coin(?) is about the size of a modern quarter but is very thin. The scan didn't turn out very well but both sides have lettering around the edges. One of the sides has four curved hooks type design around the center. I would appreciate any ideas on identification and cleaning the oxidation off if possible.
FYI, I was told that a George Washington inaugural button was found on this site also!! I never saw the button but was told by a very reliable and old time digger...........
Thanks for the help, Kevin
