Hi Hos21 and welcome. It kinda looks like mercury covered gold to me, How did you break it. Did it shatter. If it did then it is mica or pyrite, but looks too flat for that and you said it is soft.

It's like a bar of soap soft. I can just pull it a part. I can take it and flake it but its color is solid all the way through. I've had it out of water for a week now trying to figure out what it is and it's got a lot harder but still is easy to pull a part or flake it a part.

Crumble that baby up as fine as you can get it in a bucket with a small hammer or better yet a mortar and pestle and pan it up!
