Fellow T-Netters,
I found what looks like a small gold wedding band yesterday in a local park. The ring has an inscription of the persons first intial and last name with a date. The date is in the order of day of the month - month - year. Since the information is a little vague I was looking for suggestions on how to track down the owner? I think my first attempt will be to reach out to the city I found it in and as the vital records department if they have any marriage records for that date and last name. Any other suggestions or databases that I could use...free would be preferred.

Since there is only one name I was thinking it may not be a wedding band...any thoughts on that?
Thanks
John

I would do a person search. Type in there name and state on where the ring was found and see what that brings up. Or you can get a phone book from that city where it was found and see if they are listed. This would be the first two thing I would start with. Good luck as I have return 3 rings in my time of detecting. The web is a great tool in finding people. Good luck and let is know if you get the ring to its owner.....

Suggest contacting the local police then catholic and protestant officials. Mormons have the largest database of human beings on earth. TTC

Put the name info in and the state. You should be able to narrow it down pretty fast. It will tell you if they are married and the wedding date should be pretty easy to find.

Have you tried typing the area + name in facebook? Good luck.

You should try what i do… Don't waste your time trying to finding a owner… Put it in your gold scrap pile or sell it on ebay… When i find any type of item or item's …THEY ARE MINE NOW ...

c'mon kepster...dont sugar coat it...tell us how you really feel.I for one have always enjoyed you to the point perspective.

I completely agree with keppy on these types of post. U find it u keep it, not my problem someone lost it. Its the whole reason everyone got into detecting, to find lost treasures.

I am sorry lookindown but for the most part most think like dholland02 and i …… I do not waste my time trying to find some one that has lost something that i found… I can not spend half my hunting time looking for a owner that did not take care of his / her items… What do they tell you then ..good boy and give you a pat on the head…. Then you can make your self look good or to me look dumb by building your ego by telling every one you found a item and returned it……To each his own...

Its just most people r scared to say it on here, bc people like lookindown and others will criticize them for saying how they truly feel. I guess most people don't like my blunt truth about things. Oh well too bad.

What it is they will not tell the truth for they want to look good to every one ….
