Found this on some ranch land where an old farm house used to be. Was an intense dig out in the cold rain. Finally dug it up after 30 minutes. Rang up as a 34 to 36 consistently. Depth of about 5 inches. Looks like a stand that allows something to rotate on it. Possibly on a lathe or other type of machinery.

On a less technical scale, it could have been used as a door stop. Looks heavy from the pics.

Is it a wing nut on top with threads on it hard for me to see

I'll guess some kind of a pipe holder where there would be 2 of them and you could cut a pipe while it rests in there just my uneducated one cent lol. Tommy

Yeah it looks like two cutting wheels. Likely was used for cutting pipe.

Looks like a trot line weight to me..

Cutting wheels would have a sharp edge. These seem to be flat for just a rolling surface.

Holders like these are used by welders to rotate pipe to allow full access to the weld when prefabricating piping. This would have been for some small pipe or bench top work.

It is one solid piece. I’m thinking there should be another one for rotating pipe of some sort, just by reading everyone’s opinions here.

As someone mentioned,..... in a way almost a "steady rest" for a lathe.

But, the rollers arn't adjustable,.... and no third support, (roller) above.

Definitely a roller support,.... but for the same material size / size range.

Possibly a rolling support for a threading operation?
Threading pipe?,.....

A pair of them could be used as "rolling "V" Blocks, to check run out of a shaft.

Roller V blocks.webp

Nice find!

Cool relic, congrats! Sure looks like a support for a pipe (or glass?) of other cylindrical object.:icon_thumleft:

How about for pulling a boot off without your hands? just stick your heel in and pull away. Just a thought :icon_thumleft: Paul :coffee2:
