The token says “Talisman [ie something with magical powers to bring good luck] of Burjain [Birján] – God of the Game” so I would think it’s exactly what it says… a good luck piece for gamblers (in Mexico).

It could just be for poker (and perhaps additionally used as a chip) or a number of other games, but I put some thoughts on the type of game it may relate to on your other thread at the link below:
