I have emailed him one of the better shots.

Response in minutes.........

"Without a better photo, I couldn't 100% say it's not Roman, because sometimes they did use plain buckles like that, but I certainly wouldn't particularly pick it out of a pile as Roman"


Nearly cleared it up, but there's a bit of doupt there!

Im sorry i can't get a back photo of it because i only have 4.0 mega pix camera how could i make it clearer to see?

I emailed the expert again with the better picture:

I don't think that's Roman mate. It's impossible to be 100% certain with something so plain, but it doesn't have a Roman feel to me. That just looks like something post-medieval to me.

I totally agree it just doesn't look right.
