✅ SOLVED help with brass buckle

I got this recently from a friend - looks like some kind of heavy horse harness buckle but I have never seen one like it before. It is about 4" X 3 1/2" with 3 strap slots and a hinged clasp with a pin . It would be great to get a positive id on this one.

I believe it's called a double grip trace buckle. One can be seen in JM Eilers & Co catalog page 114. For some reason I can't snag a pic off the PDF.
