I ran the backmark thru Tice's book. All I found for Scovills with the s on the end was Scovilles and Brothers from around 1820s. Maybe someone else can tie it down a little better.

typical flat button--plian front type design typical of the 1800 to 1820 time frame -- the "puff" or quality wording--- "treble gilt"--- was a effort to "puff" up the quality of the "brand" differant words and phrazes were used by the various companies---- treble gilt meant that its gilt or "coating" that made the button "look" nice -- was 3 X normal "standard" thickness --thus implying it would last longer and look better than "lesser" buttons

cool, thanks for the time frame ID, I knew it was older than other things I was finding in the yard.
