Due to the types of shanks, they could easily be 18th century. Remember "Yankee Doodle Dandy". These would be the "dandy" buttons, fancy buttons for go to church on Sundays kind of occasions. Button making reached its zenith in the 18th century. Now we have plastic.

Although on the face of it they look like pre-1830 '1 piece' buttons, I believe these are much more likely to be a type they falls outside of the norm. These to me look circa 1890.
