Picked these 2 up. at the local flea market for $5 I have only been collecting coins for about 6 months so just wanted someone else's opinion on grade and value. Not looking to sell just personal curiosity lol

The 1853 is not holed it looks like a bubble burst under the surface?? Thanks Bob

And here is the 1843

Both of them are about very good, with a value of $22 for the top one and $30 for the bottom one. Your bottom one seems to be the Petite Head, Large Letters version, which is the more valuable of the 1843 variations.

Agreed, they should grade VG. The 1853 might be worth a little less than the grade due to the obverse damage.

1853 - VG, worth under $10 in that condition with the attempted hole punch
1843 - VG, worth $15-20 (note, the reverse has some really bad pvc contamination, you should soak it in acetone for a day and then roll a q-tip over it to lift off the gunk)

Thank you guys for all the help

Bob
