Where: On a beach. in the water among other rocks. (the beach was full of rocks) That beach is full of sandstone.
How: I saw it and picked up, there was a strong wind.. :P

I think they look like Worm Borrows. I'll measure them later.

possibly worm things...depends if they go against or with bedding.

could also be a critter pushing his/her way through mud (with bedding), worm holes as well as clams go across bedding planes.

in any case these usually go in a big box labeled "trace fossils", trace evidence left behind by animals doing their thing. Unfortunately most don't have enough detail to associate with any one thing...but worth saving, it's an under studied area, maybe distinctive features just not realized yet.

It's hard to see if it goes with or against bedding as it's been 'polished' by water. I haven't had time to measure them yet..
Any tips on how to see that better?

first hint is that rock usually breaks along bedding planes...but not always. appears in pic to have fine lines running across fossils...these could be bedding planes or scratches from wave action. if you can follow any of these lines around the rock (imagine a plane cutting through the rock) then you'll be able to figure out orentation of the original strata before water went to work on it.

most likely this some sort of filter feeding sand sucking critter...just moving along the bottom ingesting sand, eating the organics and expelling the rest.

the one on the top is 3,4 cm (the short one) the other one is 5,4 cm long.
