I'm brand new to this website and still learning about rocks and crystals and all that so I'm not too good at identifying things yet. Can someone help identify these 2 rocks I bought at my local store today? Thank you in advance. 20170815_175403.webp

Hello there Irish53669,

First and most importantly, WELCOME to T-Net!

Sadly, I know nothing of rocks other than I collect up what I consider "cool ones" when out walking with the dog and yours are certainly "cool ones" as well!

Although I know nothing about your stones this is the assistance I CAN provide...

There is a forum here on T-net specifically for assistance with rocks/minerals/gems which can be found at this link. While some very smart rockhounds frequent this forum, you may increase your chances of quick ID by also posting there.

Good luck and keep your eyes open!

Respectfully,

Batch

Looks like a variety of "white onyx" a.k.a. chalcedony. it's very common in Mexico, where the Mexican tourist industry carves onxy (the usual honey-colored onyx) and "white onyx" into chessmen, animal shapes, bowls, and geometric forms, like yours. In addition to other characteristics, such as the banding visible in the one on the left of your photo, the light-reflection showing a "waxy finish" look (instead of a glossy-smooth finish) on the one at the right makes me think it is "white onyx."
