Help with lock identification

I'm looking for any information on this lock. I have done a little online research and it appears to be a smokehouse style lock from the 1800's. I think the hole would have secured the missing dust cover. Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I don't think it is a railroad padlock but it really looked like a smoke house type from that website. There are just so many out there.

Yes it is really impressive! I wonder what it was used for? Jail cell, treasure chest, slave shackle, ..... I wish it could talk

The keyhole cover or "Drop" was the real key to manufacturer. But, I can tell you there is atleast two companies that had locks very similar. Miller Lock Co and Sargent & Co. both had atleast one version each. With some research you may be able to ID it. Hope this helps.
