Junkyard dog, I am no expert and have only used aluminum jelly a couple of times but have been told aluminum jelly should only be when your button has gilt (gold or silver) on it. After cleaning with the jelly while the button is still wet you apply baking soda and gently rub the soda with a toothbrush then rinse. This helps neutralize the jelly. After this we use mineral oil to keep our buttons from drying out but others use different things. There are many different ways of cleaning buttons and maybe someone else will chime in on their method. Hope this helps and by the way that is a nice button. James

I'd stop there JYD,like James said, maybe a little bit of oil or petroleum jelly.

I give mine a light spray of matte laquer ;D

Thanks you all for the reply's. I think I will stop and try and rub some oil into it and call it good.
good luck and happy hunting..... JYD..
