Possibly a bridge support. But it looks to be milled rather than hewn .

Sure looks like a bridge or trestle bracing. The round end is most likely for a large bolt and washer.

My first thought was a board from a drag line or crane pad.But you guys are probably right on a bridge or trestle beam. Does it smell like creosote? Used to treat wood to prevent rot. Pine?
