✅ SOLVED Help with old pistol I.D.

I found this pistol years ago in Centreville Virginia. I was hunting an area that I was told the Confederates had spent the winter early in the war. Other items found that day and in the same area were several three ringers, and an old pocket knife. Any ideas of what this gun is are welcomed. Seems too small to have been of any use on the battle field.

Seems very similar to a boot derringer, or a slight variation of it,note in additional pics where the hammer strikes on top of the barrel.

That def looks like it, funny when googleing derringer, that must be the most varied and copied and altered type of firearm in history, seems to be about 100,000 vartiations of pocket pistols that have been made through history, some of them really wierd. This one rocks though, took a twisted mind to invent that.
