Here's what I have with some pictures please give me an idea if you know anything about this. All I can tell you is that handles Ivory. I can't help myself. This guy has no idea what the sword is worth. And I am exactly the same I have no idea. But I have the ability to ask for help from you guys. And the ability to sell it for him for what it's worth instead of him getting ripped off on a sword that might be worth a lot of money.

Thank you for taking the time to look I will try to do some research as well I have not gotten home yet. I just met with him as they are having a community sale in our neighborhood this weekend and I saw him in his garage and decided to go up and talk!

He has a watch collection to like I've never seen. But I'm going to try to figure out the sword for him first!

And then I look on eBay and see them at a price between $70 and $350 up to 500. But if anyone else would like to Chime in I appreciate it. Thank you!

Looks like a Masonic sword. Common.

Go back to Ebay and search "sold listings". People can ask anything they want for an item. I looked and I do agree that prices are all over the map on these. Yours does look to have some age to it and may be towards the high end of the scale. Have you tested the grip to see if it's actually Ivory ? Yeah definitely should have looked before I posted it. But I don't know if you're like me I enjoy seeing stuff like that if it's on my page or someone else's page as well so I thought posting it someone would enjoy!

its a catholic sword .. knights of Columbus * similar to the masons --but they are catholic

nice sword. let me know if you get the watch collection, I would like to see what he has.

Yeah, Knights of Columbus. The owner's name was obviously Parker Babcock. I think it dates to around 1910 or so and the handle is more than likely made of bone, versus ivory. The sword is a common type, valued at around $100-$150 imho.

Bum Luck is correct on this.

Speaking of ivory - How does one tell it from bone? Any help appreciated!

I did a little checking. In this case the sword is Masonic. Brother Parker Babcock was a member of Silentia #168. His lodge is still active lodge: Silentia Lodge No. 168 F. & A. M.

Nice sword. Treasure is where you find it or buy it!

Wow, good research! I wouldn't even know where to begin to look for it. I don't even know where this guy got the sword from. Or what he even plans to do with it. Thanks!!
