Any ideas if I am finding these if gold is nearby or if that maybe gold in the quartz piece?
I am just starting out looking in our nearby mountain streams.

Looks like garnets and mica in quartz. What state are you in? North Carolina has a lot of this, more in Maine and California plus others.
