Found on a farm that dates back to the early 1800's in an area that goes back to pre- revolutionary times in Connecticut.
Made of heavy brass like metal, hollow on one end and about 9 inches long.

Is it threaded? Possibly the top of a lightning rod?

Yes there are fine threads inside.
I Googled Images of Antique Lightning Rods and found many pics showing this part.
