Because I beat the Hell out of it!:laughing7:

So about 5 or 6 years ago, my wife and I would come to MD on vacation, and that’s when I started drooling over this OLD stone house, dreaming of beeping it. I even tried to get a permission, got told to get lost.
Fast-forward to our move here, still wishing and dreaming of this massive property.
My wife gets a job (about time), with a local girl, an older lady, super nice.
Turns out, ITS HER HOUSE!!!
It’s been in her family for 5 generations, and she says she’s been asked many times to let others detect, but has always chased them off.
Also says “you won’t find anything” and that her brother already detected it, but all he found was nails.
I can’t even breathe.

Labor Day I cherrypicked the high tones, Friday after work I gridded the side yard, then yesterday I beat the snot out of that turf. Dug just about everything, and have the massive amount of trash to prove it.

So let’s get to it...

Some oddball bling...love the bell

Silver goodies!
Topaz stones in the earring, milky blue stone carved into a scarab, with silver bezel, a brooch, and the FAT buckle, made by the Hickok company.

Random tokens, but also a Dog Tag, 1874! Nothing on the back, oldest I’ve ever found.

About 40 wheats, mostly teens and 20’s, and the 01 IHP

3 each V and Buffaloes ...1897, 1902, 1903, a 37, other two are dateless.

And finally...Barbers, Mercs, and Washington’s, Oh my! And the Bell of the Ball, 1935-S Walker:occasion14:

So that’s the best hunt I’ve had in years, thanks for looking!:hello:

I found a whole scarab bracelet that looks just like the one you found, gold plated brass.

Looks like an excellent hunt BWD. Good thing here brother got there first and found it all !

I love it when people say "you won't find anything" and then you just tear it up with neat stuff! Congrats on both the permission and the finds!

Yeah, that’s always music to my ears!

Finish up, and tell her how right she was. Nothing there! Now

Just found out the giant empty lot behind her house is hers too!:headbang:

Congratulations!

We have all been were you were. “That” house only if you could beep it!
Your persistence paid off. Nice Job.

Now you can tell your wife :” honey I could not have done it without you!”

Cheers

Dude.... so many sweet finds! Congrats!

That dog tag is awesome. I suspect it’s a pretty good contender for the oldest known (from where ever its from) if it’s issuing district can be identified :dontknow:

Well I’m in, and it was found in Garrett County... sadly no other ID to it other than the year, and “DOG” lol

Very impressive digging! :icon_thumright:

Those coins look fake. You can trade them with me if you want. JUST KIDDING. Wow great hunt!!!

Awesome hunting! Great spot.

Nice hunt. I see you are having better luck getting permissions there in Maryland now. Hopefully, the beating you gave that lawn didn't leave any permanent or even temporary scars that might cost you the permission.

The dog tag is total BS Dave!!! Everyone knows dogs weren’t invented until the 1890’s............... anyway, I didn’t even know they had tags back then, I think the oldest one I’ve found is from the 1920’s or 30’s. Nice job kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man oh man what a great permission!!! Congrats!

Great finds indeed! During the 1920s after the finding of King Tut's tomb, there was a craze for all things egyptian. The blue stone or glass sacrab is probably from a 1920s, 30s bracelet. The topaz earrings look like the 1940s to 50s. My sister works for a friend part time in New york who handles estate sales. She often sends me antique jewelry from various periods.I guess the bell was to call the family and hired help to dinner and lunch if this was a working farm at one time.
Only thing I ever found at the old home in Hot Springs where my great aunts used to live, was pieces of broken china. But then i was a kid at the time.

Thanks for the insight on the Scarab and earring... very cool
