Here are a few marbles I found...any ids?

I have dug these marbles at an old dump...no chips to speak of most are in really good shape.

Did'nt dig up any burned ones?

The dump-era which contains marbles like these meant burning the garbage to kill rats,mice and anything else that would present danger to humans living near the site. You should be finding lots of melted glass bottles,partially or wholly melted marbles and the occaissional marble in perfect condition.

We have found some evidence of burning, but we have found lots and lots of whole un-burned bottles, marbles, printing press plate, tiles, and a few coins. To the best of our knowledge the dump is from the early 1870s until the late 1930s and spans the entirety of a old cow pasture about 25 acres or so.

My experience at the Trona,Ca dumpsites..

The dumps were shut down in 1954. Locals have been collecting artifacts from the site since then. The easily accessible sites have long been emptied. But there remain areas where people during the late 1940s/early 50s dumped bricks,cement blocks,etc that covered up the oldest dumpings. No-one but me has been balsy enough to dig down thru tons of brick and cement to reach the bottom-most layer. This means braving poisonous scorpions and the ocaissional rattlesnake. But down there 'neath it all are artifacts,marbles,tokens and such that were never subjected to fire. As pristine as the day they were made some dating back to 1875. I have braved 130F heat,hurricane force sandstorms and flash floods.
