I didnt know either ..thought it was a knob of a ...anyway went to an old redoubt site I like, and found a beautiful 70th regiment button along with the norm .577s and musket balls..two lil percussion caps ..well done detector...dig a lil sound from now on...and a thing ..thought apart from it looking real colonial..not military....but my learned freinds tell me its a plume holder for a shako...gulp whats that !!! then more info comes in and I do beleive they are right..heres a pic for the relic hunters on this forum ..heh thanks for looking..cheers des ps a shako plume holder is an attachment on top of a dress uniform that holds the plume of feathers relavent to that regiment (circa 1860) ps.. added a pic of a shako hat showing plume holder..oh! and the can of beer that was great..hic
