I live at the Pompano Beach Area. The beach is always pretty good for detecting loose change and stuff like that but I am in search for older coins. any suggestions on places I can go around the pompano beach and ft.lauderdale area? any info would be greatly appreciared. thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. Older homes would be a good place to start.

I was 'enlightened' by a wise old detector (with 30 years of detecting) today. Those old 'mom and pop' Hotels that are being torn down for 'development are usually surrounded by asphalt but.... before the asphalt they had shell/ sand driveways. When they laid the asphalt they simply covered the existing drives. If you can find them right after they are knocked down and the asphalt ripped up, before they start dumping fill you can find old coins. Good luck and Happy New Year!

I dont like clad either. I found some silver coins in a Hollywood beach trench. The deeper the better on the beach.
