7. Where one would find bears and rattlesnakes on the beach sands...along with the seal colonies...and massive driftwood piles...and is

8. The location of the most daily recorded earthquakes in California...and

9. The last of the unexplored natural regions of California...

10. And the first historically drilled oil wells in the western U.S. (in Petrolia...)
 

It's a shame that such a beautiful state is so messed up.
