Today we started gridding the Northern half of the field. In our favour was the land here was virgin & never hunted before, but I had a feeling we would not get many Roman coins in this area because I had started the grid in the perfect position. (after my evaluation of our scouting missions)
After nearly 3 hours Cru'dad had 2 hammered & I had very little, so I decided to try the good area whilst I waited for him to catch up. As luck would have it I scooped up a Celtic silver & we braked for Lunch. After Lunch it was much the same with no Roman coins showing, so for the last 20 minutes we went back over the better area & got 6 Roman Coins & a Celtic Bronze. So there is still plenty we missed in the gridded area!
5 Hours;

6 Roman Coins
Tudor Strap-end
Fossil bit
Tudor Sword Belt Hanger
Medieval Brooch
Rare but broken Tin farthing with copper-plug (Charles II)
2 Hammered (Poor condition)
VERY RARE (but off-struck) Celtic Silver Unit Tasciovanus - Horse & Rider 20BC
Celtic Bronze Unit Cunobelin - Metal Worker Circa AD20

Great way to finish the year.

Nice finds one again Cru. I do have make a confession though. When I look at your posts and you list all the finds at the top, as I scroll through the pictures below I really can't tell what is what sometimes. It would be helpful if you labeled each picture so I would know for sure, for instance, which piece is the Celtic Bronze Unit Cunobelin - Metal Worker Circa AD20

It's a small section of a very big Ammonite.

And not a Lincoln penny in the collection. That's just not right. They've got to be all over the world. Awesome finds.:icon_thumright:
