Hi Everyone. I’m planning a trip down to Arkansas in a few weeks and have a question for you local folk. I know of many civil war skirmish sites there in your State, some historical and some private land. Question; What are the laws on MDing on Historical sites?

Most of our historical sites,ie civil war battlefields are in state parks and are off limits to mding:(

The Poison Springs battleground is about seven miles west of Camden and is an excellent place to hunt. Most people mistakenly think that the battle took place where the State Park is located. But, it was fought on down the road on property that mostly belongs to or is leased by International Paper Company. In the 1970s, I found pieces of Confederate and Yankee cannonballs, shot-gun pellets from the 1860s, trace chain, hair clippers, the brass plug from either a land-mine or a Hotchkiss shell and an extremely-rare 1885 Liberty Head nickel. Last year, an area of the battlefield was clear-cut and should make for some interesting finds. Hope this helps! But, make sure to get permission first!

With turkey season starting saturday there will be lots of folks out and the people that lease the land from the timber companys do not like other members from the same camp on there much less strangers. Like finderskeepers said be sure and get permission...d2
