Hit the middle school across the street in a gravel area with benches. Found 69 coins (7 Q, 15D, 4 N, 40 P), and this costume jewelry ring. Seems to have a leaf pattern.

Went back later to do the soccer field and got the rest of the clad coins. Plus a stainless steel link necklace (not shown). Thought that was silver when it was still half in the ground. Sigh...

Batteries still won't die. :P

Anything over 5 coins is a good day for me..U did good...HH and keep it up..

Great haul! I wish we could get into the schools around here - they're all fenced and locked when school is not in session. ((sigh))

85 is a nice number...did you think it was 100? Usually unless I keep track as I dig I finish under 100. If I keep track I will try to push through every once in a while.

LOL. No, except that maybe it was 100 degrees here in Georgia. I've NEVER had a hunderd coin day. I haven't got the hang of the pinpointer probe that came with the detector from Kellyco. Maybe I should. :D All those were wrenched from the ground with only coil pinpointing. Can take some time. I find the Garrett can get confused about zinc penny locations and have to moving forward and back by a few inches. Maybe the 2 tone metal is the problem. Anyone else have this problem? Or am I just "special" :P.

Real reason I quit is that the sun goes down or I run out of land to survey. I haven't been anywhere that I thought another go at the same area from a different angle would yield older coins.

I use the same pinpointer i believe you are using! is it the automax v4? Remember this pinpointer needs to be with probably 1/2 inch of target. Mine works great! try rubbing it against wall of hole after you dig. A lot of times the pennies seem to hide just past the plug you dig. It works and can speed up the hunt, just try using it when you dig a plug. Turn knob just enough to stop the audible. The vibrate mode is nice in winter or when noisy, good luck!

Yeah, that's the beast. I'll try to use it again after practicing on a few coins here at home. I gave up to easily when I was really just trying to learn the detector.

I did notice in the wood chips, I can peel back the chips in layers now and find the shallow coins easily most of the time (most lay flat).

Thanks for the help.
