My fellow hunters

It was a hot day down at micklers landing in ponta vedra beach. I waded thru the sea of people and had only a few coin tones, landing some pennies. So I dedcided to go over to jax beach and checkout the scene. To my surprise, I saw another fellow hunter swining away with what looked like a minelab with the biggest coil I have ever seen!! Also, the fellow had a 5 foot rope toied around his waist dragging along his sand scoop!!

I spend a good 3 hours and found a couple of pennies..oh well...

Sometimes I wonder if I had a minelab, If I would be getting many more hits...??I will be going to Fernandina next time!

Hey Larry,

That big ole Minelab Coil is the WOT coil, the Wonderful Orange Thing. It is 15 inches in diameter and works very well on the beach and large clear grassy areas. It goes really deep but also covers lots of ground fast. It takes some practice to learn to use it well.

Glad you got out to hunt. You probably would do better with an equipment upgrade but I have found over the years that technique and knowledge go much farther than equipment in producing finds. Think of it this way, back in the cowboy days, would you have rather been in a shootout with an expert marksman who carrying a .22 caliber pistol or a guy who couldn't hit the side of a barn who was carrying a Colt .44 Equipment isn't everything but it can make a difference when two people of similar skills are using different detectors.
