Found on a family property where horse stables were long ago. Item was about 8" deep. It seems to be a locking mechanism. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess is that it is a complete assembly, the 3 holes are for mounting it to something, and when the green levers are pinched the jaws would open so that the red locks on the jaws would fit into the holes that would have been in a set pin. It could have been used for a quick release for clothesline:

Thats kind of what i gathered from it too,i would like to know from when its from.

Old school "sure latch" livestock proof gate latch. For when the horses are smarter than the farmer...

(I will allow you to draw your own conclusions about finding this on the family property. :laughing7: )
