Found This lock had a property from 1853. Just can't figure out what type of lock this is any help.

Can't give you dates, I've dug a few similar locks in my time and I don't think its old enough to be 1800 ?
I'm thinking probably 1930-40 ? these seem to be more decorative than actually meant to keep people out !
