This Clovis was found by my cousin while working a field. The ground was black. The region was once a wetland and has been drained by the making of ditches so the land could be farmed. I bet this was used to kill a mammoth or two! The tip has been restored with hot glue and it has a chip at the bottom probably due to hitting the bone of a mammoth? It also shows signs of being in a fire once because some of the blackened surface has disappeared from resharpening. (hard to see here).

Man!!!!!!! What a find!!!!! That is on my dream list. Along with an axe and/or hammer. Thanks for sharing that with us.

that is the single most incredible artifact that I have seen posted in a LONG time on this site, AMAZING quality and material!

Yeah it was laying in a box full of arrowheads and "what nots" before it was traded for. Gosh!
Those are original dings though! This piece is one of a kind! Makes you not want to ignore the low black spots. Just think of what has been passed up merely because people tell them selves, "It doesn't look good over there in that black dirt!" That's probably where most of the mastodons hung out at.

This comes from around you! Have you found any hixton? If so, you should group your hixton pieces and post. Rare stuff especially down this far in Indiana!

About half of all my finds are Hixton, I think I've posted most of them before but I will try to re-do a post of just hixton stuff
