Got these keepers on the grounds around an old cemetery. The graves date back to the early 1800's. Some just have stones for markers. I asked Newt if he want go. He doesn't refuse often. We hit this place a few weeks ago and he left saying that the place may be cleaned out. Thanks Newt!

The key doesn't fit the lock. Can anyone give me the circa on the lock? How do I clean it? Do I need to?

Congrats on the lock and old key. I love finding old locks.
I'm someone can ID it better than I, but I'm guessing mid-1800's.
Can you post a closeup picture of the engraving on that swinging keyhole cover?
Thanks,
MM

Wilson,Wiiiiiilson! Dude that's 2 locks in less than a week, your on a roll.I sure wish you guys were closer.I'm headed out this am to go find something.Congrats on the finds. HB

Lovely lock! I wonder if that could be a chastity belt lock? I wouldn't try to clean it, but rather preserve it somehow and put it on display.

nice finds for sure  thats the first time I have seen a heart shaped lock... cant wait to see what else ya find

Well, I think it's a british mark on the lock...

The shape of it would make me think that it was much, much older--but I'm no lock expert. I'm sure someone will chime in with a date range for it.

Nice work on the lock and key!
