Homemade Beach Scoop

With not wanting to spend the high price scoops I set out to make my own.
Materials
$25 gaff from walmart
$15 fryer basket from restaurant supply
$5 piece of aluminum for curved front
$10 stainless screws

Verdict. Works awesome in the lake where the sand is really fine. Not so well at the beach where the sand has shells and tends to block the screen. It's rather on the heavy side. I guess I will have to break down and spend the 160 or go back to the drawing board.

Here is something to remember, the high dollar scoops hold their value so you can always get most of your money back if you sell it so the money is not really gone, just invested.

I have the beach brute II, I would have no problem getting 75% of what I paid for it if I sold it and that doesn't count the gold it has pulled up.....

Their expensive because they work. I like to doodle and buck the system. Half the time when I doodle I spend more than an item would have cost me. I will look into the bh II. Thanks for the tips

I riveted on a stainless steel lip couple years ago which really helped, no lip damage by digging at all.
