Metal Detecting
I remember playing in this haunted house back in the 60's (it was empty then) and remember where it stood. I really became interested when I bought my detector. There was corn this summer and it was just cut down. The same guy owns this as well as the AP Howard place. I stopped by there today and took a stroll to check it out. I wasn't 10 feet into the field and on top lay a 1910 Wheaties. A little worn but off to a good start, I hope. Found the bricks laying everywhere and I know where the house stood. Mr. Kenfield actually owned 2 homes. One is just 1/8 down the road on the same land. This house is occupied. It is on the map too. It is to the right of the skewer I have laying on the map so you know what I am talking about. I swung for a few minutes and there are a lot of targets out there. This will take some time as It was corn and they ran a bush hog over the stubble which is a plus for me. I'll keep you informed.

;D ;D ;D Small town USA where knowing someone pays off sometimes. I owe it to my Grandmother (94) whom so many people know. The town is only 300 if that. Everyone knows everyone. I have a good solid foundation there as the Smith name is recognized by many residents. My Grandmother had 11 siblings so someone knows one of my Uncles or Aunts. This Randy Westfall, the guy who farms 5000 acres has crops sitting on much of this virgin detecting homesites. If you recall some of my posts of the Smith farm, his silos can be seen in the background. The large one hold 3/4 million bushells

Thanks Colonel. My arm hurts so bad now I'll never be able to hunt all of these places myself :'(

My knees are bad, but I can swing. How 'bout me swinging for ya, and you digging, 50/50 split? ;D. Our club re-produced county atlas maps and sold them to whomever wanted one, unfortunately the oldest is for the county I live in, and it only goes back to 1876, and most of my town is concrete, Had fun when they were tearing out old farms for subs about 20 miles from here, got a few big coppa's, some barber dimes, and a couple civil war storecards, that's 'bout it though. Canton and Plymouth Michigan used to be known as the sweet corn belt of the midwest, but now it is called concrete jungle. Good Luck in your endeavours!........NGE

Thanks. I'm a little familiar with Canton and Plymouth being a truck driver. Seems like there are auto parts factories and Industry everywhere around Detroit. Not one of my favorite places to drive a truck. The concrete in Michigan is either smooth or broken to pieces and rough as heck. Sorry to hear about your knees. Thanks NGE

You're gonna' find some nice goodies there CJH
Thanks silver. I 'll have to wait for beans next year. This is going to be tough hunting. I walked out there yesterday and even though the stubble has been bush hogged down thoses pesky corn stalks are everywhere. It will be interesting. There are bricks everywhere. They must have just tore this place down by running a bulldozer through it. Hopefully that wheatie that was just lying on top will be a good start
