Hoosier Macro Butterfly Photos

Well, here in the land of the Limberlost...actually Limberlost is somewhere farther south in Indiana (not sure exactly). But I'm suprised how many roads are named Limberlost in my area. At times it seems almost like a waste of money to buy very much good camera equipment. Of course, I do anyway, it is a good hobby to enjoy along with metal detecting. Macro photos are my specialty and we do have butterflies. I'll share a couple, then bee and Praying Mantis close up. Here is the Tigerswallowtail, the elusive one of the bunch. Just happened to be there when it landed in front of me. After three good clicks, was gone. Then the common Monarch. These were all taken last summer.

This camera stuff will be useful once I get some good finds treasure hunting...

Here is one more butterfly. This is called "Painted Lady" and rightly so...it even has some very Native American looking markings. If you look along the back edge where wings are open, has a feathered pattern. Wings closed and upright, lower part blends with the flower making it appear almost transparent. The Painted Lady actually does a dance while feeding...a step, step, step, rotating until completing a full circle.
