Every time I go out, I hope to find something
. Today, instead of the rain in the forecast, we had lots of sun; naturally, those conditions require one to do a little detecting. I headed over to the silver farm with a plan: all the snow we had this winter had packed down some longer grass, making it reasonable to detect. The area I had in mind was adjacent to other grass areas that are kept short, and aerial photos from the late '30's indicate that these longer areas were once also more lawnish. Not a bad place to search, I thought, and my first find was this 1930 wheat penny. You'll notice that I've now found 478 wheats at the silver farm, and I wonder if 500 is realistic. Inches away, I found Pittsburgh Railways Token #10. A little while later, Buff #21 appeared, then Rosey #41. The Buff has no date that I can discern, and DrDetector and I discovered a sad little secret a few months back. He brought over some Nic-a-date and we restored the date on some old Buffs that I had, but the miracle acid wouldn't do it on dug Buffs
. Somebody, somewhere, knows why. So, I changed four numbers in the signature below; I also found a religious medal similar to one I've found and posted before. Forecast calls for us to go down to 25 tonight, so it was a nice day to be out.
