Old Church a few miles from home is next to some public woods. On the 1950's aerial photo I spied a trail leading off the back corner of the church lot into the woods, in this direction were several 1800's farms back in the day. I figured there might be a few good items near the corner of the Church property back in the woods on the public side near the trail. Turns out I guessed correctly. I found a small area that must have been where the farmers put their horses when they went to church. First target was two indian cents (1897 and 1900), which was a great sign. Hardly any modern trash at all, all finds were only a couple inches down. The hardest part was all the brush and bramble. Best detecting day in a while.

No silver, but the two eagle cuff buttons were a surprise, along with the gold filled ring. Unfortunately one of the cuff buttons is in poor shape, but you can make out the eagle. Also the brass finial is a favorite. Good luck to all.
