That's a fairly common form of stirrup. It could very well go back before the civil war, or it could be a modern manufacture. Oh and btw, if you don't want it I do.:icon_thumleft:

Looks to be a fillis stirrup iron. Age would depend on the material. I've had a cheap pair rust and pit in just a few years (I ride).
