I took a walk today along the 'horse trails', there are many miles of trails in the Ouachita Forest, plus they have an equestrian camp at Cedar Lake where the riders can camp & care for their horses.
Then I drove to the top of the mountain & visited 'Horse Theif Springs', where legend says the horse thieves watered their stolen mounts while on the way to the 'Cherokee country' north of there.
I knew an 'old Timer' who had a little Gold ring given to his mother by Cole Younger when he came through this area, the man wouldn't let me take pic's or write a story about it, sadly, now he's gone & the story also, (except for me).
The rock work around the spring was done in the 1930's by the CCC workers.
