My wife's sister Rose, is ten years older than her. My wife is 4'10" tall and Rose is around 4'6" tall and a little on the plump side. Anyways, we got notified that Rose, who had a knee replacement almost a year earlier, had stepped off a curb and fell. Result, broken shoulder, broken leg, and a broken wrist besides the other bruises. A couple days later, we had Rose on the phone and so I had to ask, "How can someone that is already so close to the ground as she is, break so much in a fall?" I am 6' tall and trip and fall a lot. She is older and that is a lot of it but man, that was a lot to break. And yes, she caused the knee to swell again. Oh, the broken leg was the opposite leg. Just glad it wasn't me. And I fall hard in slow motion LOL.

One word..
Osteoporosis.

Roses wilt when they get old

Easier than you think. Immobility accelerate muscle loss and poor balance. No matter what your height, take a step wrong and you can drop like a rock.

All I have to say is "ouch".

1. I believe that you insult the woman who was in pain.

Gidday amigos

Sadly these things happen. Some times it is the luck of the draw. On the bright side for your sister in law it was not fatal.

I knew an elderly women but still quite fit and for her age. Was in country women's association went to their local hall tripped over a garden hose smacked her head on the porch step and never woke up.

Some times some times the simplest of stumbles that can be deadly.

When your number is up your number is up. This why I appreciate every day I wake up amigo.

In contrast some people make miraculous escapes from death and injury such as this one lucky SOB below. Who was driving by himself speeding, God knows how fast he was going? lost it and hit a tree cutting the car in half. He got out with hardly a scratch. Stepped out called the police on his mobile telephone and for roadside assistance.

Police turned up could not believe he was driving as looking at the car all they expected see was dead bodies?

So Amigos in the spirit of thread how can some one do this?:dontknow:

As you can see it just the luck of the draw.....

Other people can just be unlucky and get seriously injured or killed over a simple fall.
