How do I find old map info in my area (Northridge, Ca) online?

Looking to research old maps online- pre-1950 parks, fairgrounds, schools, etc. Can anyone help, or is there a tutorial online? Thanks...

Historic Map Works, Residential Genealogy ?

I use it all the time. Some of the older maps even show where all the structures were. In my county I use the map from 1874.

Northridge was so named in 1938. It had been named "North Los Angeles" in 1929 but that was too confusing. Before being named North Los Angeles, the area was called Zelzah. You may wish to research those other two names. The area was called Zelzah, a Biblical name for oasis, because the area, fed by underground streams, was very fertile. Today, you'll see a lot of signs there for Zelzah; now you'll know why--if you didn't know already.
